Entry Set 02 · Tribal Belonging

The Slogan Without Soul

We treat everyone like family. The mission statement that lives on the wall and nowhere else. The brand promise that marketing wrote and operations never read.

Customers don't read mission statements. They feel whether the mission is real within the first thirty seconds of interaction. The gap between what the brand promises and what the experience delivers registers not as disappointment but as betrayal. You told them they mattered. Then you put them on hold for forty minutes.

Recognized by the gap between the brand's social media voice and the frontline employee's actual behavior. Recognized by the company that wins awards for its values and loses customers to competitors who simply answer the phone.

The Inquiry
Who is the I that wrote this promise? Where is it actually being kept?
